25 Days of Squatters Craft Beers - Celebrating our 25th Anniversary

It all began with a business trip to the Northwest.  Jeff Polychronis and Peter Cole, business partners long before Squatters Pub Brewery came to be.  They had frequented brew pubs in the Northwest and noticed that it was the place to be for a lot of the locals.

With that in mind, they came back to Utah to and started the hunt for the perfect location for their new venture as business partners.

Squatters Pub Brewery opened on September 5, 1989.  It was a welcome site in Salt Lake City.  They ran out of beer and had to buy some from the only other brewery in Utah, Wasatch Brew Pub.

There are many stories to tell about Squatters Pub Brewery, Jeff and Peter and all of the wonderful people who have worked here, dined here and enjoyed a craft beer at our bar.

To celebrate the 25 years in business we are having the 25 Days of Squatters!

Thank you for your love and support! Here's to 25 more years of brewing Damn Fine Beers!

Experimental Hop Creation - French Connection

Recently we had a unique and fun opportunity at the downtown pub.  Thanks to Dave McKean (from the Utah Brewer’s Cooperative) we were able to experiment with a new hop!  Dave has fostered a relationship with the fine folks at Washington State University and we’re showcasing a new variety of hop.   We kept the malt bill simple and familiar (basically followed our recipe for Full Suspension Pale Ale) so that we could really experience this new hop.  Opportunities like this are one of the many reasons I love brewing at the pub level!  It’s really been fun and interesting to be a part of this test.  I’ve included our “official” description of French Connection.  Hopefully people can get down to the pub to try a pint (or two) before it’s all gone!

“French Connection is a traditional pale ale that uses a unique hop.  We are fortunate to have the opportunity to craft a beer with an experimental variety provided by our friends at Washington State University.  This hop has been selected from a cross of a female Alsace (a French variety) with a male selected from a cross of Cascade and Cluster (American varieties).  This is the only commercial beer that has been brewed with this novel hop.  Earthy, fruity and spicy, with just enough bitterness to balance out this light pale ale.”

Cheers!

Blaze a New Hop Trail

Crest Trail Pale is now on tap (and on the cask conditioned pump as well). If you have never had this classic American Pale Ale and love hops, you should definitely give it a try. We also have put on an old favorite on the nitrogen tap, McGrueh's Dry Irish Stout. So come enjoy some super fresh beers and along with a robust Dry Irish Stout.

In addition, we are now selling Fifth Element and 529 out of the Packaging Agency Monday/Wednesday/Friday from 12pm-3pm for $12.95/bottle. Limit 1 case per customer.
cheers

St. Patty's Day comes early to Squatters

McGrueh's Dry Irish Stout  just went on tap today. Contains all the rich, roasted barley flavors of a regular stout but without all the heaviness. McGrueh’s is conditioned with nitrogen to give it a thick creamy head and smooth taste.
